About Melissa

By night I’m a blogger, but by day I’m a librarian working at a public library. No, I don’t read books all day, trust me I wish I did. I am a huge huge reader! There’s always a pile of books next to my bed. I’m always flipping through cookbooks too for new ideas. My job at the library is still tremendously fun though, because I order the books so I get a sneak peek at new releases. I also instruct craft programs for patrons, and run the summer reading club among other things. I truly enjoy my career.

Besides baking and blogging, some of my hobbies include hiking, spending time outside and with my husband, and watching movies. I’m a huge planner, I bullet journal on a daily basis and I’m really into pen paling too! Check out my personal instagram @lissalibrarian to see my pen pal letters and bullet journal spreads.

I obviously love being in the kitchen. I especially love baking, but cooking is quite enjoyable as well. Making dinner for my husband and I after coming home from a long day at work may seem daunting, but it actually relaxes me. It’s where I can be creative and learn new things and make amazing tasting food that makes people happy. There’s no better feeling in the world than when someone raves about my food.

My hopes and dreams include taking professional baking and cooking courses and eventually opening a bakery one day to call my own. For now though, I am just in the kitchen as much as possible baking like crazy and having a heck of a lot of fun while I’m at it. I hope you enjoy everything you find here and bake a recipe or two yourself!

Also you may notice most of my recipes call for coconut or plant-based milks, yogurts, and butter. I have a dairy allergy so everything I bake I modify to be dairy-free so I can eat it. I also make some gluten-free products as well because both my parents eat gluten-free. If you have any questions about allergy-free baking don’t hesitate to ask me.

Lots of Love,

Melissa
